The short answer
Find the exact EU model’s energy quantity, unit and programme, then apply your own tariff and routine. Price annual kWh directly or normalize compatible cycle figures. EPREL can help compare declared product information; electricity savings, purchase quotes and payback still need your household’s inputs.
Start with the exact EU model and its energy unit
An efficiency letter alone cannot price an appliance. Find its full model identifier and applicable EU energy label or product information sheet. EPREL lookup helps you retain the category, capacity, programme and source version.
The European Commission announced a comparison feature for similar EPREL products on 20 July 2026. That comparison can help narrow compatible candidates; your own tariff and purchase quote still need to be added separately.
Annual kWh belongs in an annual field. A label stated per 100 cycles must be divided by 100 before pricing one cycle. A sheet already stated per cycle needs no further division. EU tumble-dryer labels introduced from July 2025 use energy per 100 eco cycles; retain the unit on the document you actually use.
Set your market, currency and electricity price separately
Open Market & tariff, choose European Union, then enter your own price. Changing the market selects EUR and clears the draft price. It does not convert another currency or fetch a country average. You can choose a different supported currency when that is how your bill is quoted; the EU label regime does not require every household to use euros.
An illustrative 30 euro cents/kWh is 0.30 EUR/kWh. A €30 monthly payment is not €30/kWh. Identify the consumption-related price and keep fixed charges separate. The unit-rate guide explains the boundary.
Country, supplier, contract, tax basis and date can change the relevant price. The €0.30 input below is a calculation assumption, rather than a German, French, Spanish or EU average. Currency formatting never performs an exchange-rate conversion.
Compare two documented 9 kg eco-drying figures
The Bosch EU product sheets dated 21 September 2026 declare these weighted eco-cycle quantities:
| Model | Capacity | Declared energy | Source basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| WQG241001 | 9 kg | 1.28 kWh/cycle | Weighted eco drying |
| WRB247C40 | 9 kg | 0.79 kWh/cycle | Weighted eco drying |
These are manufacturer declarations. They are not measurements in our home, and the weighted value is not the energy of every full-capacity cycle. Other programmes and actual loads need their own source or measurement.
At three cycles/week, 52 weeks and an illustrative €0.30/kWh:
| Annual estimate | WQG241001 | WRB247C40 |
|---|---|---|
| Cycles | 156 | 156 |
| Energy | 199.68 kWh | 123.24 kWh |
| Electricity | €59.90 | €36.97 |
The unrounded difference is 76.44 kWh and €22.932/year, displayed as €22.93. Multiplying a rounded per-cycle cost would lose precision. Idle energy beyond the stated cycle basis is excluded.
Put purchase prices alongside the electricity saving
Assume candidate A costs €650 and candidate B €950. These are illustrative prices, not retailer quotes. The extra €300 divided by €22.932/year gives about 13.1 years of simple extra-price payback.
Over five years, purchase plus modeled electricity is €949.52 for A and €1,134.86 for B. The lower-energy candidate still costs €185.34 more over that period. The calculation uses unrounded inputs before displaying money.
At six cycles/week, the electricity saving doubles to €45.864/year, giving about 6.5 years of payback for the same assumed price premium. Neither period is a forecast of service life or future electricity prices.
Compare the capacity, programme, dimensions, noise, features and confirmed local quotes that meet your needs. A source document does not establish stock or a current retail price. The documented examples collection keeps original documents alongside reproducible calculator inputs.
Build the household and tariff comparison on matching boundaries
Load the example below into the purchase comparison, then replace the routine, rate and prices. If keeping a working appliance is the alternative, use replacement payback; it starts with the full net replacement outlay, rather than the difference between two new purchases.
Use separate non-overlapping rows in the household planner. Annual fridge consumption should stay annual; a seasonal heater needs its chosen use days. A washer-dryer complete-cycle figure already includes washing.
The tariff comparison accepts two energy-price periods and a daily fixed charge. More complex tiers, monthly demand charges and changing hourly prices need a fuller bill calculation. Keep the plan’s actual terms with any simplified scenario.
Save or print the model, document date, unit, programme, currency, tariff date and purchase quote together. That record makes a later recalculation meaningful when prices or your household routine change.
